 JobsNOW
Governor Perdue's number one priority is jobs. Her JobsNOW initiative will bring together all the resources available to North Carolinians to create new jobs and to put our people back to work.
"With state agencies, local governments, business leaders and citizens working together we will create new jobs, put people back to work, and train our workers for success. Through JobsNOW, we can get our economy back on track while laying the foundation for a strong and sustainable economic future."
- Bev Perdue
While JobsNOW is a collaborative effort, it also includes specific projects from Governor Perdue, such as:
- Perdue's Green Energy Plan, which will attract businesses, create jobs and promote a strong and sustainable green economy in North Carolina. The plan refocuses state energy policymaking, makes strategic investments in North Carolina's green economy and increases green-collar workforce development.
- "12 in 6" Worker Training Initiative - "12 in 6" is a workforce development initiative designed to benefit North Carolinians who have lost their jobs. The initiative will create community college programs in 12 careers, each requiring less than six months to complete.
- Charlotte Area Workforce Recovery - A series of strategic steps focused on providing resources and funding to make it easier for unemployed workers to find new employment in the Charlotte area.
- JobsNOW Portal - A user-friendly resource for job seekers, those exploring new career options, and entrepreneurs looking to start, grow or relocate a business in North Carolina.
- NC Recovery - North Carolina is set to receive over $8 billion from the federal recovery legislation to create jobs, address state budget stability, and rebuild and expand our state's critical infrastructure, including highways and schools. The N.C. Office of Economic Recovery & Investment will help ensure that the funds will be put to use quickly and efficiently, and with the transparency and accountability that North Carolinians expect.
