Two North Carolina recruitment projects were recently honored in the Summer 2010 edition of Southern Business and Development magazine. The recently announced Caterpillar plant in Winston-Salem and the Siemens expansion in Charlotte were named as part of the 2010 Excellence in Manufacturing Recruitment Awards.

The Caterpillar project will create 392 jobs and the company will invest $426 million in North Carolina.  The Siemens Energy expansion will produce 825 jobs and $170 million in investments. These two projects also share another distinction in that they reflect our state’s ability to attract advanced manufacturing associated with globally competitive companies.

While we are proud of our accomplishments, credit goes to all the project partners including N.C. Commerce statewide and regional recruiters, city and county governments, community colleges, local  and regional economic developers, Golden LEAF, the Rural Center, and more.  More importantly, credit goes to North Carolina’s tremendous workforce.  Our skilled, well-trained and knowledgeable workers continue to be our greatest selling point.

If the competition for new jobs was featured in the Olympics then it would undoubtedly be a team sport. So let me close by thanking everyone on the "NC Recruitment Team."
