On  Friday, Gov. Perdue participated in the "Plant a Row for the Hungry" campaign by planting corn, beans and squash in a garden at the Executive Mansion.  She was joined by representatives from the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and Logan's Trading Company, sponsors of the Raleigh Plant a Row campaign.

Plant a Row (PAR) was created by the Garden Writer's Association in 1995 to encourage home gardeners to plant an extra row of produce for local food banks.  Food grown in Raleigh can be dropped off at Logan's Trading Company and will be brought to the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.

There are other PAR campaigns throughout North Carolina including Asheville, Caldwell County, Guilford County, Durham/Chapel Hill, Oak Island, Pittsboro, Rockingham County, Smithfield, Union County, Wilmington and Winston-Salem.
