On Tuesday, April 6 Kinston/Lenoir County held a groundbreaking for the new rail spur at the Global Transpark. The rail spur will provide viable rail and freight to the state port at Morehead City and will revolutionize the way we move goods in and out of North Carolina. It will provide a pipeline that will bring stability and jobs to the region, while making us a leader of green business practices.

Many agencies, organizations and municipalities have made this day possible through hard work, dedication and a commitment to building a stronger North Carolina. The efforts of the men and women involved in this project will impact how we do business for generations to come.

A host of dignitaries attended the event and NC DOT Secretary Gene Conti was the keynote speaker.

“Today we celebrate another milestone in the development of the Global TransPark,” Conti stated. “This rail spur demonstrates how we can best use our transportation infrastructure to make North Carolina more economically competitive, which will bring even more business and jobs to the state.”
