In response to constituent feedback, the Division of Non-Public Education (DNPE) has created a voluntary online system that allows users to save postage and time when submitting annual reports.
Annual reporting involves home schools which are beginning their second or more consecutive year of being listed with DNPE. For the 2008-09 school year, DNPE counted more than 41,000 home schools statewide with a total enrollment of more than 77,000 students.
While the online reporting system is one of several steps DNPE is taking to streamline services and increase efficiency and accuracy, school administrators still may choose to complete and return the mailed reporting card they receive from us each August.
Regardless of the method selected, all reports are to be submitted between Aug. 1 and Sept. 30. Home school administrators are encouraged to take time now to become more familiar with this process.
To learn more about the new online reporting system, a presentation has been developed for administrators of home schools beginning their second consecutive year of operation this August. Information also is available for those who operate schools beginning their third or more consecutive year this August.
