I am pleased to announce that North Carolina's eLearning landing page, www.elearningnc.gov had a successful debut Monday at the North Carolina School Boards Association meeting in Greensboro.  I joined the Governor in debuting the page to an audience of over 500 local school board members representing North Carolina’s 115 Local School Districts.

This website provides links connecting students, parents, teachers and citizens with the numerous electronic and web-based learning opportunities offered by various educational partners across the state.  Through the site, students of all ages will be able to access educational curriculum outside of the traditional classroom setting.  North Carolina boasts one of the richest menus of eLearning in the country with 4500 courses and 300 degree programs across K20 education available on line.

The site is certainly a dramatic step forward for education in North Carolina, keeping us ahead of the curve. It provides all our students a more level playing field with regard to access to educational content.  In the days and weeks to come, this site will be the key to future success for many citizens of our state.  As chair of the eLearning Commission, I hope to continue to grow the educational opportunities provided to all North Carolinians through the utilization of technology.
