On Friday, the Governor’s Press Office volunteered at the Raleigh Boys & Girls Club.  During the morning, staff spent time reading to the girls, and in the afternoon, staff played basketball, shot pool and participated in other activities.

Everyone in the office had a great time getting to meet a group of excited and energetic girls.  Once our time was up, they didn’t want us to leave and asked if we could stay longer and play.

Our volunteer service is part of Gov. Perdue’s call to service and President Obama’s “United We Serve” campaign.  Spending a morning or afternoon with kids is an easy and rewarding way to give back to your community.  It’s as simple as reading a book, playing a quick game of basketball or giving children the attention they need.
