  Intergovernmental Relations
 
  This unit is responsible for coordinating state-federal issues and state-local issues that are of importance to North Carolina. The unit serves as the point of contact and provides staff support for the state's participation in national and regional organizations such as National Governors' Association, Southern Governors' Association, Southern Growth Policies Board, Council of State Governments, Appalachian Regional Commission and others. Staff works directly with personnel in the federal agencies and with Congressional members and staff.
 
  On state-local issues the unit is the liaison with the local government interests in the state. Staff works with the N.C. Association of County Commissioners, N.C. League of Municipalities, councils of government, as well as individual local officials.
