  Proclamations

Proclamations are issued by the Office of the Governor to provide recognition for special events or significant issues. The goal of a proclamation is to honor and celebrate events or to increase awareness of significant issues of importance to North Carolinians.

  Policy
  • Proclamations may recognize a day, week or month.
  • Proclamations are issued only to North Carolina citizens, agencies and organizations. Out-of-state requests will not be honored.
  • Proclamations are not issued in honor of individuals. Other forms of recognition for individuals are provided. For more information, contact the Office of Citizen and Community Affairs.
  • Proclamations must have statewide significance.
  • Only one official copy of a proclamation is provided. If duplicate requests are made, the first request will be honored. Any subsequent copies will be prepared at a charge of $7.00 each.
  • Proclamations are not automatically renewed. Requests must be made on an annual basis.
  • All proclamations, once finalized, are posted on the Office of the Governor website.
  • The issuance of a proclamation does not constitute an endorsement by the Governor.
