Certificates are issued by the Office of the Governor to recognize individuals for their contributions to the State of North Carolina. The goal is to honor individuals who have made a significant impact towards the betterment of the state.

Policy
- Certificates are to recognize individuals’ contributions to the state.
- Certificates are issued only to North Carolina citizens.
- The honoree must have made a direct contribution to North Carolina.
- The nominator and the nominee cannot be the same person.
- The Governor's Office reserves the right to rescind a certificate if false or misleading information was provided in the nomination application.

Making your request:
- Complete a certificate request form.
- Requests should be submitted a minimum of three weeks in advance; four if the presenter desires to receive it early.
- The certificate request form may be submitted electronically, or a hard copy may be printed to submit by fax or mail.
- The final decision rests with the Governor’s Certificate Committee. You will be notified of a decision in a timely manner.
