Raleigh - Gov. Bev Perdue has temporarily suspended motor carrier regulations to ensure that poultry farmers in the northwest part of the state can get feed and supplies delivered to care for their livestock.

Raleigh - Gov. Bev Perdue today appointed Keith O'Brien Gregory to the District Court bench for the 10th Judicial District for Wake County. Gregory will be appointed to the seat which was created by the General Assembly in 2008.

Bev Perdue and U.S. Senator Kay Hagan today praised the recent Centers or Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announcement that the North Carolina Community Care Networks was selected to expand patient-centered medical homes. North Carolina was one of only two states selected by CMS to implement a new Medicare quality demonstration to improve the quality of care received by Medicare beneficiaries at less cost to the taxpayer.

Cigarette Tube Manufacturer to Bring 35 Jobs, $6.7 Million Investment to Rockingham County

Raleigh - Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Commonwealth Brands Inc., a national manufacturer of tobacco and tobacco products, will expand its operations in Rockingham County. The company will invest $6.7 million and create 35 jobs in 2010. The announcement was made possible in part by a $100,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

Bev Perdue has proclaimed February as Black History Month in North Carolina and urges citizens to honor the heritage of African-Americans and their contributions to our state and nation. Recovery Act Funding to Boost Energy Efficiency, Create Green Jobs in Six Communities Statewide

Raleigh - Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that another $755,148 in federal Recovery Act funding for energy efficiency block grants has been awarded to help six local agencies create jobs and save on utility and fuel bills. The six grants mark the second distribution of money from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program in North Carolina, for a total of nearly $1.5 million to a dozen local agencies. Additional grants are expected to be announced in the coming weeks as funding applications are reviewed and acted on.

Steel Tubing Manufacturer to Bring 40 Jobs, $3.2 Million Investment to Cleveland County

Raleigh - Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that Solaris Industries Inc., an international manufacturer of steel tubing, will locate a new facility in Cleveland County. The company plans to invest $3.2 million and create 40 jobs during the next three years in Kings Mountain. The announcement was made possible in part by a $50,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.
