Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that she has accepted a friendly wager with Michigan Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm over tonight’s NCAA Men’s College Basketball Championship in Detroit, Mich.
The governor from the losing team’s state must be photographed wearing the winning team's jersey and hat while dining on local food from that team’s state. The governor of the losing team will also donate $100 to a food bank in the winning team's state.
“Gov. Granholm and I have several things in common – we’re both Democrats, we have each served as our state’s first female governor and, as far as I can tell, we both look good in Carolina blue. I look forward to seeing Gov. Granholm donning a Tar Heel jersey and hat,” said Gov. Perdue.
"Coach Tom Izzo and the Michigan State University Spartan men have given the state of Michigan a great gift: the chance at a national championship from the hardest working team in college basketball," Granholm said. "Thanks to the Spartans for giving us hope and for uplifting our entire state. Their victory Saturday night was our victory and we wish them great success in the championship game Monday night."
