Clarification on Flexible Furlough Plan for State Employees

Governor Perdue today issued an executive order announcing a flexible furlough plan for teachers and state employees.  To clarify that order:


All teachers’ and state employees’ compensation will be reduced by an annualized amount equivalent to 0.5 percent for the remainder of the fiscal year.


In return, each employee will receive 10 hours of flexible time off that can be taken between June 1 and December 31.


Therefore, when an employee takes their time off, their pay will not be deducted any further beyond the .5% taken this fiscal year.
