Governor Statement on DENR Response to Cliffside Court Order

I was opposed to the licensing of the Cliffside facility by the prior administration, but since that permit was already issued my job is to make sure that the emission of hazardous pollutants from this plant is kept to an absolute minimum. I will be very vigilant in assuring that Duke Energy lives up to all the terms of the permits, including its commitment to DENR and our citizens to close some of its older coal fired plants that have been polluting our atmosphere.
