The Governor's Teacher Advisory Committee (GTAC) is charged to advise the governor concerning
the current reality of teaching in North Carolina classrooms. It was NC teachers' input, through this
committee, that helped shape the Excellent Schools Act. In addition, responsibilities include
identifying, recognizing, and celebrating entrepreneurial schools in NC and supporting teachers seeking
National Board Certification. |

Official Duties of GTAC

- 1. To advise the Governor about experiences and concerns of teachers in the classrooms of North
Carolina.

- To assist the Governor in his efforts to improve teaching and learning in North Carolina's schools.
|
| |
| |
- To recommend strategies for recruiting and retaining quality educators.
|
| |
| |
- To identify, recognize, and celebrate entrepreneurial schools and school systems.
